This week’s episode of WWE NXT was highlighted by two massive championship matches on the card. In the opening contest of the night, Bron Breakker successfully retained his NXT Title against Vin Wagner with the Spear finisher. Then in the main event bout, Mandy Rose successfully retained NXT Women’s Title against Alba Fyre after a sudden interference.
As noted above, WWE NXT Women’s Championship was defended in a Last Woman Standing capacity between the two superstars. The challenger, Fyre was in a commanding position when Isla Dawn made her return to WWE TV.
WWE NXT Deadline 2022: First-Ever Iron Survivor Challenge Match Announced
Isla Dawn helps Mandy Rose to retain on NXT
Dawn showed up behind Fyre on top of a ladder that Fyre had previously set up next to the announcers’ desk for a potential top rope move. Dawn spit some sort of black mist into the face of Fyre and then sent her off the ladder through the commentary desk kept next to it. Rose was originally lying on it but she left the table in order to send her opponent crashing through it.
Rose was able to make it to her feet as the referee counted to ten and she retained her WWE NXT Women’s Title in the process. Back at NXT Halloween Havoc, Rose previously defended her title against Fyre in a one-on-one capacity. On that night, The Toxic Attraction members helped the champion with ringside distractions for title retention.
Isla Dawn joins WWE NXT from the previous NXT UK brand
Isla Dawn is a native of Scotland who was last seen on WWE programming on the final episode of WWE NXT UK when she participated in a Fatal-4-Way Number One Contender’s Match for the to-be-unified NXT and NXT Women’s Title, held by Mandy Rose.
Dawn joined WWE NXT UK brand in 2018 by competing in a Triple Threat Number One Contender’s Match against Toni Storm and Killer Kelly. She also was a participant in that year’s Mae Young Classic won by Storm. During her time in the UK-based brand, Dawn had matches with the likes of Alba Fyre, Rhea Ripley, Meiko Satomura, Nina Samuels, and Millie McKenzie.
It’s been announced that the former NXT UK is set for a re-launch in 2023 under the name of WWE NXT Europe. Since the dismissal of NXt UK brand, Dawn, Blair Davenport, Tyler Bate, Ilja Dragunov, Pretty Deadly, Gallus, and The Dyad are the superstars to have participated in the mainstay NXT brand.
