Being one of the future star powers of the WWE NXT brand, Nikkita Lyons has consistently been seen putting in effort. She was supposed to receive the spotlight in the least amount unless year-long knee injuries would force her to take a break from the ring. But that doesn’t stop her efforts to keep herself relevant in or outside the ring in the so-called sports entertainment genre.

The former WOW star recently talked about her professional wrestling journey, so far in her conversation with Booker T on the WWE Hall of Fame podcast. She talked about the animosity that she experienced while growing up in the business. Most of the time, people don’t notice the hard work that gets put up.

“So I grew up in the entertainment industry,” Nikkita Lyons said. “And I always like to use that metaphor of the glacier in the ocean, there’s that big foundation under the water, the hard work that nobody sees, and then there’s the pretty ice outside of the water that everybody does see.”

Nikkita Lyons faced lots of bullying while growing up

The veteran host of the show stopped Nikkita Lyons and wanted to know the elaborate experience of how she came up in the industry and whether she faced any kind of bullying while growing up. She explained and admitted to getting criticized for the bigger frame, especially in an industry that infamously favors the smaller sizeable personas,

“It’s always been, ‘You’re too tall for this … You’re too thick for this role, you should dye your hair, you’ll never be the hot girl.’ There’s definitely bullying at school, a lot of online bullying which still happens. But your girl has built that rhino-thick skin now, so I just do my best to laugh at it.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

On the NXT brand, Nikkita Lyons quickly rose to stardom and became one of the developmental territory’s brightest talents after her December 2021 debut. Winning the Women’s Breakout Tournament and challenging for the Women’s and Women’s Tag titles, she founded instant momentums on the roster. But a couple of severe injuries ruined all of her momentums.
