A new romantic angle apparently started on WWE NXT featuring Indi Hartwell and Duke Hudson. It happened as an awkward run-in, backstage during the NXT 2.0 Spring Breakin’ special, last night, and Duke’s former on-screen girlfriend, Persia Pirotta reacted to the incident.

In the shown segment on WWE NXT, Hudson walked up to Hartwell in the locker room and the two stared down each other for several seconds while recalling the release of their respective partners from the contract. Hudson appeared to be going in for a kiss while trying to rekindle their romance from the past as Hartwell yelled, “Oh hell no!” Hudson responded with “You wish” before walking away.

Hudson then took to Twitter to react to the segment, as seen below while Pirotta also shared a hilarious reaction to the segment.

As noted, Hartwell’s kayfabe husband Dexter Lumis and Hudson’s kayfabe girlfriend Persia Pirotta were released by WWE NXT, earlier this week as a part of WWE’s budget cut releases. These fueled up speculations on social media about Hartwell and Hudson may get back together to play to the break-up angle. Being billed from Australia, they do share immense history, together.

Although it was not acknowledged by WWE NXT announcers that Lumis is no longer with the WWE, a backstage segment showed how Indi Hartwell was saddened by the fact that she now has a ringless finger. It was at this point that Hudson walked into the locker room to stare down at his fellow Australian wrestler but this time it wasn’t Pirotta.

Speaking of Pirotta, she last wrestled on the March 15 WWE NXT show, losing to her former tag team partner Indi Hartwell. She was involved in the ongoing storyline with Hartwell, Duke Hudson, and Dexter Lumis. Coming from the Australian indie scene, Pirotta was signed by WWE as a part of the April 2021 WWE Performance Center Class of international recruits.

Following her WWE NXT release, Pirotta issued the following statement,

“Today, I woke up & chose gratitude. I am grateful for so many things. I met some of my BEST friends here, I took my grandparent’s name and showcased it on a platform as big as WWE. I surprised myself with the things I was able to achieve in a relatively short period of time. If anyone knows how to make lemonade out of lemons though, it is me. Time to level up.”
