In one of the major matches of this weekend’s NXT Stand and Deliver 2024 premium live event, Roxanne Perez defeated Lyra Valkyria to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. Perez has been touted to be one of the shining stars of the NXT Women’s division and she has also undergone big changes over the past several months when it comes to TV characteristics.

Perez turned heel last month which essentially set her up for the championship win against Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Title at NXT Stand and Deliver 2024. The two delivered an instant classic with Tatum Paxley trying to interfere in favor of Lyra but she got taken out by Perez.

The finishing sequence of the match saw a series of pinfall attempt exchanges after which Perez countered the Knight-Wing into the Poison Rana, followed by Pop Rox. She then locked in Valkyria with the crossface submission. Lyra was already dealing with an injured arm and she submitted to become the new Women’s Champion at NXT Stand and Deliver 2024.

Roxanne Perez commented on her NXT Stand and Deliver 2024 win

Thus, Perez now stands as a two-time champion of the NXT brand. Following her win at NXT Stand and Deliver 2024, she spoke in a backstage interview and made it clear she knew she was going to win the match and the title, all by and for herself,

“’I told you I was going to do this, I told everybody I was going to do this and look at me now. I’m your new 2-time NXT Women’s Champion. I heard them, ‘Let’s go Roxy,’ I don’t need them now, I needed them a year ago. All I need is myself and my championship.”

Perez’s journey into NXT Stand and Deliver 2024 had its highs and lows. She entered her first Royal Rumble match on January 28, 2023, as the NXT Women’s Champion. At Vengeance Day, Perez successfully defended her title in a triple-threat match against Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne before beating Meiko Satomura at Roadblock. Afterward, she lost the title at last year’s Stand and Deliver in a Ladder Match to Indi Hartwell.
