Last night, WWE presented the NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day event from the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. During the event, Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai have become the first-ever Women’s WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The final match of the tournament was the opener of the PPV where Gonzalez hit a Spike Chokeslam on Ember Moon after neutralizing Shotzi Blackheart, to get the pinfall win. Kai and Gonzalez are the winners of the Women’s Dusty Classic trophy, and thus they have earned a future title shot to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship held by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
As for the Men’s WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, MSK has won the 2021 edition. The NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day pay-per-view saw Nash Carter and Wes Lee of MSK defeating The Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake, Zack Gibson) in the finals. MSK performed a double Superkick followed by a double Blockbuster off the top ropes to get the win.
Carter and Lee are the holders of the prestigious Men’s Dusty Classic trophy, and they have earned a future title shot from NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. There’s no update on when the title match will go down.

In other news from NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day, the former Impact World Champion Eli Drake debuted on the Kickoff Show and his new name in WWE would be “LA KNIGHT.” Johnny Gargano (c) defeated Kushida to retain his NXT North American Championship.
Also, the WWE NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai (c) defeated Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm in a huge Triple Threat Match. Storm tried to get the pinfall win with a Headbutt but Shirai landed with a moonsault on her. She kept Storm aside and pinned Martinez for the win.
NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day main event saw NXT Champion Finn Balor retaining his title over Pete Dunne in a physical matchup. Balor hit his Coup De Grace and 1916 finishers, back to back to get the pinfall win. After the match, Balor was attacked on the stage by NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Dunne then joined the tag champs, Burch and Lorcan in triple-teaming Balor in the ring.

Balor was saved by The Undisputed Era’s came Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong. The heels retreated but Cole superkicked Balor out of nowhere, putting him on the mat. O’Reilly disagreed with Cole as Cole then superkicked O’Reilly, putting him on the mat next to Balor. Strong was conflicted between Cole and O’Reilly. Cole eventually left the ring to send NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day off the air with Balor and O’Reilly down together in the middle of the ring.
