Night 1 of WrestleMania 36 witnessed The Undertaker defeating AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match to pick up his record 25th win at WrestleMania. Currently, his record stands at 25-2 at the holy grounds of ‘Mania which has become synonymous with him.

The match with a cinematic treatment received major success as the critics and the fans appreciated the efforts made by the company. Undertaker returned as “Big Evil” on a Motorcycle for the first time in almost 16 years.

During the promo for his upcoming series, The Last Ride, Undertaker said the following about how he wants to retire,

“I’m gonna go out with a match fitting The Undertaker. That’s what separates being good – great – and being a legend.”

Retirement of The Undertaker is something that WWE Universe is worried about for a long time. Every year when Wrestlemania comes around, speculations about the last match of the Deadman, get fuelled up. Now, The Undertaker also reacted to it with the latest post shared by him on Instagram.

Whereas some think it’s an indication of calling it a day for his in-ring career, some think that he’s thinking of featuring in more matches in the 30th year of his career.

According to the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there’s a lot of backstage talk going on about Undertaker finishing his in-ring career:

“There’s a lot of talk that [The Undertaker] wanted to retire on a good note because he’s had these bad matches. If that’s the case, this would be the way to retire.”

The Undertaker competed in two matches in 2019 and one in 2020. The Super Showdown match against Goldberg was a flop after which he delivered a tag team match at Extreme Rules 2019 and the Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. Both these matches were immensely enjoyed by the fans. The indication is clear that he wants to go to the sunset leaving a mark.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently had a conversation regarding The Undertaker. It was revealed that Taker told Angle that he wanted to redeem himself after his disappointing match against Goldberg at WWE Super ShowDown 2019. He was able to do so in the last couple of outings, for sure. As for retirement, the decision completely lies in his hands.
