WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line 2016 – Match Card, Preview, Predictions
Dec 17, 2016 at 3:28 PM
In general, the TLC PPV concludes the PPV calendar in the WWE every year. This year the tradition changed with the brand split as we are getting more PPVs from each brand. Hence, WWE Roadblock will take place as the Raw-exclusive PPV and the final one for 2016. The event will take place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The card is mostly stacked with matches that we have already seen in the past. The main event will be between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. Here what we can expect from the night.
Rich Swann vs. TJ Perkins vs. Bryan Kendrick (Cruiserweight championship)
Cruiserweights have got a new home in the form of 205 Live and Swann has been its face since it got launched. He just won the title three weeks ago and is unlikely to lose it soon. We are more than likely to see an incredible high paced match up. Kendrick will try to steal one with his mind games. But the outlandish guy will retain his title at Roadblock hitting the Swann Song kick.
Prediction: Rich Swann retains his title.
Big Cass vs. Rusev
This feud has been a thoroughly interesting one since the beginning. After a long time, we have got a non-PG feud involving some mature activities. We have got enough outside the ring indulging between the participants and now it’s time to get into an in-ring encounter. An out-and-out physical brawl will prevail from the get-going. Enzo will be the difference maker providing the distraction to Rusev. He’ll also do some trash talking to Rusev’s lady, for sure. In the end, Big Cass will most likely prevail.
Prediction: Cass will pick up the win via Enzo’s help
The New Day vs. Cesaro-Sheamus (WWE Raw Tag team championship)
Sheamus-Cesaro earned the opportunity to face the Tag Team champions at Roadblock by becoming the No. 1 contenders at the Tribute to the Troops. The New Day has already broken the record held by the Demolition and hence it’s time for another team to pick up the titles. Their reign has already become stale and the belt will suit well on Sheamus-Cesaro. The crowd is well over with them as well.
Prediction: Sheamus-Cesaro ends New Day’s title reign
Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman
There is an added stipulation to this match at Roadblock. Sami Zayn will have only ten minutes to beat the mountain of a man. It is going to be a usual squash match in Strowman’s favor. However, somehow during the finishing, Zayn will cause an upset by any means. This might happen as a result of disqualification or even count-out. Once the shocker happens, Strowman will continue to beat Zayn down again.
Prediction: Zayn pulls up a shocker by winning this one
Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho
This match is purely given so that Rollins can finally get some redemption on Jericho. The man interfered in his title matches for umpteenth times and now it’s payback time. He will try to win this with every dirty trick under his ‘list’. However, the winner is easy to predict here. Rollins will connect with a pedigree to finish it in styles. Moving forward, he is set to collide with the originator of the pedigree, Triple H.
Prediction: Rollins wins via a pedigree
Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks- Raw Women’s championship (30-minute Iron Man match)
The entire 2016 has passed by with this match on the PPV card. Although this time, it will be an iron man match between these two great athletes, the feud has seen umpteenth matches and we beg it ends here. Thankfully, there is no rematch clause and that means we might not see these two going at it, again. Sasha should win this. Furthermore, we can see Emmalina making her debut and targeting Sasha to start a fresh feud going forward. But WWE Creative is not dependable as we have seen in the past. So Charlotte might win it back keeping her PPV winning streak intact.
Prediction: Sasha should win to end this bout. Emmalina might debut after the match.
Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns (WWE Universal Championship match)
The worst thing about the main event is we have witnessed this match for more than couple of times. Hence, we are not so interested to see it. This might be the reason the Roadblock PPV is still not sold out totally. Reigns will try to hold both the US and Universal championship by beating KO. It’ll be a back and forth physical encounter but there will be multiple shenanigans in between. Jericho will come out to help KO and so will Rollins to neutralize. KO will take full advantage of the chaos to retain his title.
Prediction: KO retains the Universal title
