Charlotte Flair is all set to defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship in a stipulated environment at Wrestlemania Backlash. She’s obviously not happy with this announced match after her successful title defense at Wrestlemania 38. Hence, she took out frustrations on veteran superstar Drew Gulak who apparently is gunning for a role on the commentary table on Smackdown.
This week’s Smackdown on FOX saw Michael Cole sending us backstage to Gulak, noting how he’s been trying to be a member of the commentary team. Gulak then interviewed Madcap Moss before his singles win over Humberto.
Reason Charlotte Flair Defeated Ronda Rousey At WWE Wrestlemania 38
Later on, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair confronted WWE Official Adam Pearce about her “I Quit” match against Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8. Gulak interrupted the session and asked Pearce whether he did well in his first backstage interview with Moss. Flair chimed in saying that he would get a real performance review only after he interviews her in front of the people.
During the interview session, Charlotte Flair advised Gulak to hold the mic for her but he proceeded to ask if she was concerned with her upcoming title defense at WrestleMania Backlash against Rousey. Gulak also mentioned how Rousey made her tap out at WrestleMania 38, and how Rousey should have been the champion if the referee wasn’t down on the mat.

Charlotte Flair sent a message to Ronda Rousey
Charlotte Flair was irate at this. After taking verbal jabs at Gulak, she attacked him from behind, taking his leg out with a chop block. She applied Figure Four and bridged into Figure Eight as Gulak tapped out. Flair yelled at Gulak and ordered him to say I Quit which he did. Flair tightened the hold until the officials rushed down to break things.
Charlotte Flair stood tall amid huge boos from the crowd and raised the title in the air as Gulak recovered to end the segment. This was the champion’s response to WWE booking her into a rematch against Rousey at Wrestlemania Backlash. The Baddest Woman on the Planet wasn’t there on the show.
Gulak is a one-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion and eight-time WWE 24/7 Champion and he’s been with WWE since 2016. But in recent times, he hasn’t wrestled. It’s likely following Smackdown that he might get included in a broadcaster’s role.
