WWE Smackdown full results: May 26, 2016

Arindam Paul / 27 May 2016

WWE Smackdown was taped this week from Norfolk, Virginia. Michael Cole kicked things off with the show as he was standing in the ring with the Money in the Bank briefcase and welcomed his guest Dean Ambrose who talked about his victory in the Ambrose Asylum match victory and claimed to win the Money in the Bank briefcase. Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Alberto Del Rio joined to make their own claims to the briefcase. Del Rio was scheduled to face Zack Ryder and make his way to the match. Apart from the Mexican, all the three men inside the ring started brawling among them reminding that it would be every man for himself on June 19th.

Alberto Del Rio def. Zack Ryder (MITB Qualifier match)

As the opening contest of WWE Smackdown, Del Rio had a great match against Zack Ryder and predictably picked up the win after locking in the cross arm-breaker, thus staking his claim on the briefcase for the 2nd time. There are probably a handful of people in the building who would have believed that Ryder will win and things did not turn out to any exception, either.

The Dudley Boyz confronts Enzo and Cass

Next Enzo Amore and Big Cass were scheduled to do some smack talking. Enzo returned to WWE Smackdown to continue from where he left off. The Dudleyz interrupted to start a war of words between the two teams. As a result, they decided to settle things off on next Monday Night Raw.

Rusev def. Kalisto (United States Championship match)

Prior to the match, Rusev and Lana cut a promo of how chances are low of Kalisto regaining the United States title. Despite the injury that he is suffering in the hands of Rusev at WWE Payback, Kalisto gave a tough fight to the Bulgarian Brute. But, ultimately Rusev outfought Kalisto and made the former title-holder tap out to the Accolade. Rusev wanted to give some more punishment to Kalisto after the match but surprisingly Titus O’Neil runs down to the arena to make the save.

Natalya def. Dana Brooke via disqualification

WWE Women’s champions Charlotte’s newest ally Dana Brooke was scheduled for a match against Natalya with the champ being present in the ring. Just after a minute in the match Natalya locked in the sharpshooter and Charlotte attacked her from behind to bring the match to a close. Natalya put the champion into a sharp-shooter quickly before Dana Brooke and Charlotte gang up on her and make her down.

Breezeango def. Golden Truth

The final moments of this latest installment between these four saw Fandango pushing Goldust outside the ring. The Bizarre One tried to get back into the ring causing a distraction and Breeze capitalized with a surprise cheap kick that allowed Fandango to pick up the win.

Seth Rollins returned to SmackDown

Seth Rollins was back on WWE Smackdown to cut a heel promo. He asked the fans if they had missed him. As the fans gave a positive reaction, he thwarted it back to their face and left the ring throwing off the mic.

The Miz def. Cesaro (Intercontinental Championship match)

In the Smackdown main event, The Miz squared off against Cesaro for the Intercontinental championship. In the height of the showdown, the Hollywood A-lister rather chose to walk away from the ring but Cesaro stopped him with a flying cross-body. Maryse helped his husband by exposing the turnbuckle and the champion took full advantage by shoving him on that. The champion then finished the job with a skull crushing finale and walked away with the title.
