Ronda Rousey is the current WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion who is ruling the blue brand women’s division. But sooner or later, she could be going up against the superstar whom she captured the title from. It appears that Charlotte Flair is poised to make her return to Friday nights and could possibly enter the championship picture.
The PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina had advertised that Charlotte will be in attendance at the WWE SmackDown TV taping scheduled for Friday, August 12.

The venue’s official website also informs that the reigning WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, Drew McIntyre, and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos, will also be in attendance at the show. In addition, Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair is also being advertised to defend her title in a Triple Threat Match against Rhea Ripley and Asuka.
Since WWE SummerSlam is set to take place on July 30 at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, that’s just two weeks before the taping, Flair is announced for, we can assume that it also indicates a quick return is on the horizon. Given the thinner female roster of WWE Smackdown, she could be part of the summer event or get involved in the scene once the show gets over.
Charlotte hasn’t been seen on WWE Smackdown since May
Charlotte was last seen on WWE TV at the WrestleMania Backlash premium live event, last month, where she lost WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey in an “I Quit” Match. Since her return at Royal Rumble 2022 following a nearly three-year absence in January, The Baddest Woman on the Planet had been feuding with The Queen.
Then, she won the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match and opted to go after Flair to face at WrestleMania 38 for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Title. That effort wasn’t successful but the controversial ending would set up the “I Quit” rematch at Wrestlemania Backlash.
WWE then portrayed the former champion’s absence through a kayfabe injury suffered at the hands of Rousey as she ended up receiving a “fracture of the radius.” In reality, that time-off was needed by her as she got married to her partner, ex-WWE Superstar, and current AEW wrestler, Andrade el Idolo.
