Things are uncertain on WWE Smackdown, courtesy of a few injuries and absences following the inaugural WWE Day 1 PPV. There’s no certainty around the Universal Champion’s presence on the show but we do know the new WWE Champion will be there to kick things off for the blue brand in the New Year. Plus, we also expect to receive updates around the recent injuries on the show that is scheduled from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The New WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will be in attendance in the potential headliner segment of WWE SmackDown. As seen on Monday’s RAW, Lesnar and Paul Heyman reunited on TV in the opening segment after nearly two years.

This happened after just two weeks since WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns fired Heyman from his Special Counsel’s position and attacked him on WWE SmackDown. This set things up in a big way for Lesnar vs. Reigns Universal Title match that was scheduled for WWE Day 1 this past Saturday. But that match was nixed due to Reigns testing positive for COVID-19 on that same night.

Lesnar was thereafter put in the WWE Title match, which he won and thereby clinched his sixth WWE Championship win of his illustrious career. While Lesnar has been shifted to raw with his title match win, the ongoing feud on WWE Smackdown isn’t over.

WWE Smackdown Preview (07/01/22): Brock Lesnar Appears As WWE Champion 1

The Heyman – Lesnar reunion segment from RAW featured lines where the two taunted Reigns. Heyman said Reigns will be vulnerable on WWE SmackDown without him, proof that he got caught in COVID-19 just one week after the separation. Lesnar sent Reigns “get well soon” wishes and then also mentioned that he will be seeing Reigns, tonight. There’s a confirmed update available on Reigns who is also medically cleared to make an appearance on the show.

In the main event of Raw, Bobby Lashley defeated Big E, Kevin Owens, and Seth Rollins to become the new number one contender for a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Via this win, Lashley is now set to get a shot at Lesnar’s WWE title at Royal Rumble 2022.

Top WWE Smackdown Superstar Drew McIntyre was victorious on Saturday night at WWE Day 1 in Atlanta as he defeated Madcap Moss in a match that went right around 10 minutes. Following the match, there was a backstage attack by Moss and Baron Corbin as the heel duo took out McIntyre.

Going by the reports of PWInsider, the backstage attack was done to write off McIntyre from television as he will be further tested on a legit neck injury. Apparently, he has been working through this injury for a few weeks. There’s no update is available on how severe his neck injury is as we expect an update on it.

Speaking of injury, Sasha Banks is said to be dealing with a sprained ankle. She wrestled SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at Sunday’s WWE live event in Fayetteville, and appeared to hurt her leg or knee while taking a stiff backbreaker move. She kicked out of a pinfall attempt but stayed on the mat for some time, hinting at the injury.

Flair got the win after a Natural Selection as Banks was then helped to the back. Following this injury scare, the top superstar provided an update on Twitter saying that she was doing okay but there’s no update on whether she would be missing time for the injured leg. Following Toni Storm’s release, Sasha was rumored to enter WWE Smackdown Women’s Title picture as we expect a clarification on the situation, tonight.
