Following the May 30 episode of Monday Night Raw, PWInsider reported that a couple of top Raw superstars were set to perform on WWE Smackdown. AJ Styles and The Miz were scheduled to be there on this past edition of the blue brand that emanated from Columbus, Ohio. It was unclear at that point why these two superstars from the Raw roster would be doing on a Friday night show.
Then, fans in attendance at WWE SmackDown got to see some bonus matches with stars from not only Raw but also from the NXT brand. As seen in the various images and videos released on the internet, top WWE Raw stars and some promising WWE NXT talent were featured in the dark matches before and after the show taping that went down from the Schottenstein Center.
Former NXT Tag Team Champion Wes Lee of MSK vs. Sanga (Saurav Gurjar) took place before the main show of WWE Smackdown got underway where Sanga, the Indian superstar picked up the win in the untelevised bout.

Wes Lee and Sanga faced each other on the WWE NXT 2.0 May 24, 2022 episode with Sanga picking up the win on that occasion. Lee has been going solo on the NXT roster since his partner, Nash Carter, was released from WWE and the team MSK was disbanded. Since then, Lee is obviously not having the best time in his career.
Two ex WWE Champions competed after WWE Smackdown
Following the main show of WWE Smackdown, the fans in attendance were treated with a top match featuring two former WWE Champions. The Miz squared off against AJ Styles in a one-on-one capacity. The Miz cut a heated promo to amp things up for the audience before the match got underway. In the end, it was Styles who ended up becoming the winner by pinning the A-Lister via the Phenomenal Forearm finisher.
Both these two names are currently involved in storylines with talents from Raw, heading into WWE’s next premium live event, and hence they were booked to compete in dark matches only over on WWE Smackdown.
Styles will be competing at WWE Hell in a Cell, tonight as he teams with Finn Balor and Liv Morgan against The Judgment Day (Edge, Rhea Ripley, and Damian Priest) in a six-person, mixed tag team action. The Miz isn’t booked on the PLE card but he’s booked in a semi-feud against Ali. Plus, his wife Maryse will be joining him on this Monday’s Raw to celebrate the new season of Miz & Mrs premiering on the USA Network once the WWE’s flagship program ends.
