Melina is one of those unique female former WWE Superstars who possess a Diva quotient alongside the needed quality to what it takes to be a prolific performer. She could have been a great asset to the Women’s Division if not contract issues prevailed a decade ago. She was in talks to make a comeback to WWE on different occasions but that never happened.
Going by the latest words from her, it’s very unlikely that she will ever make a comeback to the ring. Excuse Me Podcast recently had Melina as a special guest where she noted the injuries she is dealing with. She revealed an ACL surgery needs to be performed on her. It is currently “hanging by a thread.”
That being said, Melina needs to go under the knife to remove the problem, permanently. In that case, it would take her long to be back in an in-ring shape. The process could be prolonged given that she is in her 40s. So it keeps her in doubt whether she will be able to make a return to the ring after the operation procedure. Her ACL is “shot” affirming that the rehab process would be, long.

“The sad part is I was told that I have — well basically, my ACL is hanging by a thread I think. I need to call the doctor and have them explain it to me, but that’s what was explained to them. They’re like, ‘No, her ACL is shot.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve been working on this knee and I didn’t even know this.”

Melina’s WWE return was ruled out
Melina could have played a key role on the WWE Raw roster given the big void that existed for the better part of 2020 during the absence of Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch. Rumors were rife back in September that WWE signed her for an immediate appearance on the red brand. But things didn’t go down as planned since WWE discovered the injury.
As it can be seen, the injury is bothering her very much and without any surgical procedure, it can’t be fully repaired. We hope that she can make a successful return to the ring. The last time Melina was seen on WWE Raw was during the Legends Night in a short backstage segment. She also appeared on the Raw Reunion show held in July 2019.
