WWE: What to Expect From This Week’s RAW: April 16, 2018

Arindam Paul / 16 April 2018

This is the first night of the Superstar Shakeup where WWE Raw will acquire big names from the Smackdown brand.

Things just started heating up for a fresh season in WWE programming after Wrestlemania.

The Superstar Shakeup is back to shuffle everything on both the prime shows in the company. Starting from tonight, there will be some major names that will get inserted into the flagship program.

Furthermore, there will be a huge singles match from the women’s division, whereas, the second contenders for the WWE Raw tag team championships will be determined.

This will help to build up the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble and the Backlash PPV events. Tonight’s episode will be hosted at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

It is the first night of the Superstar Shakeup where WWE Raw will acquire big names from the Smackdown brand. Daniel Bryan is the prime name that is supposed to get drafted to the flagship show. Apart from this big shift, it is likely that Charlotte Flair and the United States Champion, Jinder Mahal will also be heading to the prime show.

After several weeks of bad blood between them, Sasha Banks and Bayley will finally square off in a singles competition. It might turn out to be the main event of the night. WWE Universe has waited to see this anticipated match for a long time which should deliver.

Also, the main reason to announce this match on tonight is that any one of them will get traded to Smackdown, this week. Ronda Rousey is being advertised to appear on this week’s WWE Raw. According to WWE.com, she will suffer repercussions for attacking the commissioner, last week,

“When Stephanie attempted to “befriend” Ronda and put the WWE “machine” behind The Baddest Woman on the Planet, Rousey saw through the façade and went to work on Stephanie’s arm once again, further damaging the injured limb. The McMahons aren’t known for taking disrespect lightly, so what awaits Ronda when she enters Raw on Monday?”

Another huge match on the night will be contested between the team of Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt taking on against The Revival. The winner will get to face The Bar for the relinquished WWE Raw tag team titles.

The newly former babyface team is having the momentum by their side which should continue with a victory.

A renewal of rivalry has just begun on last week’s episode of WWE Raw between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe. It would continue to set up a huge match at the Backlash PPV. The Big Dog will try to pick up the momentum by his side since he has the beast waiting for him at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Also, numerous other feuds will continue to set up future matches for the upcoming PPV. One of them will continue between Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss. This rivalry between the former best friends is definitely not over and will produce at least one more match.

Same can be said for the feud between Seth Rollins and The Miz, too who are set to clash at Backlash.
