WWE: What To Expect From This Week’s Smackdown Live: August 8th, 2017

Arindam Paul / 08 August 2017

WWE Smackdown Live will host the next edition of the show as we are just 12 days away from the biggest event of the summer. After last week’s dream main event match, we can surely expect another blockbuster episode as Summerslam is just around the corner.

Already two big matches from the Women’s division has been added to the card for tonight. Plus, we will see a fresh build up for the WWE Championship match. The company is still travelling in Canada. Hence, the show will be hosted at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

In the WWE title picture, Shinsuke Nakamura has just become the number one contender for Jinder Mahal’s title. We have not been able to learn his reaction following the dream match against John Cena. So, it’s expected that we will hear from him.

The champion, himself did not come out to congratulate him, last week. So, this week, it’s expected that the title holder and the contender will have a confrontation to hype up the upcoming championship match. Plus, Jinder will have to take care of business when he squares off against Randy Orton in a grudge match.

In case you have not noticed, John Cena had a brawl with Baron Corbin following last week’s Smackdown. It ended with Cena putting Corbin with an AA through a table. The Lone Wolf surely had not liked it and might be looking for an attack on the franchise player culminating a match at Summerslam.

A title match was added to the Summerslam card as The New Day will defend the tag titles against The Usos. The champions were not present on last week’s show due to The Usos’ attack on them, fifteen days ago. So, the unicorns are likely to make their return to seek redemption on the heels.

Two women’s division matches were announced on the show. In the first one, Naomi will take on Carmella. James Ellsworth is expected to make his return during this match so that Carmella do not lose the contest. Plus, Charlotte and Lana might go for a fresh feud with by locking horns in a singles match.

As for the other rivalries, AJ Styles will continue his feud with Kevin Owens until Summerslam. It will be interesting to see how Owens reacts on the show after Shane McMahon was made the guest referee for this match. Plus, Rusev will look forward to making a bold statement to Randy Orton after he received a huge RKO, last week.
