WWE: What Transpired Once Smackdown Live Went off the Air: July 17, 2018

Smackdown Live witnessed a solid main event last night between Hardy and Nakamura. It took place over the United States Championship.

Randy Orton ruined things for Hardy who was in firm control of the match. The challenger was about to pick up the win with a Swanton Bomb, but Orton came from behind to deliver a massive attack on him.

This move disqualified things and created bad blood between Orton and Hardy. With Summerslam approaching towards us, we can certainly expect things to get heated up courtesy of this feud in the upcoming weeks. The main show of Smackdown from Wilkes-Barre went off the air on this note. But there was a lot in store for us following the taping.

Apart from the main event match of Smackdown, there was a solid contest featuring the WWE Champion. AJ Styles and Andrade Cien Almas competed in the first-ever match on the show to deliver a back and forth to go. Almas proved to be a worthy competitor despite the loss.

On the Smackdown fallout show, Almas appeared for an interview session. His manager Zelina Vega had some strong words claiming this loss means nothing. Instead, his client is undoubtedly the future of the WWE.

Becky Lynch was also present on the Smackdown fallout show where she seemed confident for a championship opportunity. Now that Asuka is over with both Charlotte Flair and Carmella, Becky is the most likely name to challenge the Princess of Staten Island at Summerslam.

There was a couple of matches in the dark segment of the show, as well. Daniel Bryan was back in action against his nemesis, The Miz to the delight of the crowd. He defeated the heel superstar in an entertaining segment to send the crowd home happy. Check out the updates from wrestlingINC.com,

“The dark main event after tonight’s WWE 205 Live in Wilkes-Barre, PA saw Daniel Bryan defeat The Miz, according to reader Pat Bailey. The match featured comedy promos from both Superstars, before and during the match. The finish saw Bryan trick Miz with a hug before turning on him.”

There was a second dark match on Smackdown as well. The Bar continued to compete in non-televised segments. This time around they competed against the Usos to digest another loss.
