WWE/Impact Wrestling News: Alberto Del Rio Vacates His World Championship

Alberto Del Rio made the biggest impact by debuting on Impact Wrestling promotion last week. He began in a great way by challenging the reigning champion, Lashley for a title match. The ending was a controversial one with the referees arguing over the decision. Finally, Alberto was declared as the new champion. The show came to an end with the new champion celebrating with the belt.

But the dream start was cut short for the Mexican Superstar before it even began.

As per reports from wrestlingINC.com, the new champion, Alberto De Patron had to forfeit his title in the latest taping of Impact Wrestling which is yet to go on air. We saw some serious confrontation between Alberto and Bruce Prichard over the same backstage during the fallout show on last week’s show.

The decision was made since a third referee had to get involved while taking the final call in the matter. There was no surety that he was absolutely right while crowning a new champion. Hence, the show-runners took away the title away from him and gave it back to former champion, Lashley on the taping that was recorded on Friday.

Later on the taping, a number one contender’s match was conducted to give another opportunity to De Patron. He competed in a match with Ethan Carter III to determine whether he holds the right to challenge for the world title.

Once again, he capitalized on the chance by making EC3 tap out via submission. So, the rivalry between Lashley and Alberto is far from over. They will soon lock horns for another championship match. This new episode will be televised this Thursday on March 16.
Since the Hardyz have left the company, a tournament was also announced to crown a new Tag champ. The Decay, Reno Scum, Laredo Kid & Garza Jr. and LAX will be the four teams participating in it.
