WWE/TNA News: Impact Wrestling To Tape Two Shows In Mumbai
May 25, 2017 at 5:13 PM
Impact Wrestling is known as the second largest wrestling promotion in the United States following WWE.
It was the brainchild of former WWE superstar Jeff Jarrett. He parted ways with the company in the beginning of last decade to start his own wrestling promotion named Total Non-Stop Wrestling promotion (TNA) in the year 2002.
The promotion managed to survive till 2016 under the same banner until, last year. They suffered a huge loss after the president, Dixie Carter was forced to sell the company to a media tycoon, Ed Nordholm.
He revamped the promotion by chopping off the TNA name and retained the ‘Impact Wrestling’ only. The ownership of the promotion now belongs to his company, Anthem Sports who came up with a bigger announcement for the pro-wrestling lovers.
As revealed on the official Twitter handle of the promotion, they will tape a couple of shows in Mumbai, India at the end of this month. With this, they will also become the first-ever US wrestling promotion to tape their flagship shows in India.
On 30th and 31st of May 2017, Impact Wrestling will host the tapings from an Indoor Venue in Mumbai, India. The particular venue has not been disclosed, for now. This will be a historic occasion for the Indian audience since no wrestling promotion has organised their weekly shows in India, before.

Previously, both WWE and TNA conducted a number of live events in India. However, the feel of flagship shows and the house shows are totally different. These tapings will lead the company to their yearly event of Slammiversary in four weeks.

The returning cornerstone of the company, Jeff Jarrett commented on the matter in an interview with the Fox Sports. Check his comments here:
“It is the first time to my knowledge that a US based wrestling organisation is going to India, and are actually producing four episodes that will be seen globally. To my knowledge that is the first time ever that a company has done that. We are very excited.
Sony Six is our partner over there. Grey Matter is a production company that we have partnered with and they have done lots of hours throughout India producing lots of programming so we are super excited. The crew is headed over, everyone is super excited. In 2012-2013, we filmed Ring Ka King a few years ago, hugely successful, changing regime prevented season two.”

The taping is likely to increase the pro-wrestling fever in India. The fact that an Indian, Jinder Mahal is the current WWE champion will also help a lot to the promotion, for sure.
