Sunrisers Hyderabad is the latest addition to the Indian Premier League. They are just one year old and will be taking part in the IPL for the second time. Last year, they had a successful outing as they finished in the fourth spot in the tournament. Before their arrival, the Hyderabad city played as the base for the Deccan Chargers, the most under achieving team. They won the Indian Premier League in 2009 and apart form that edition they failed to perform upto the mark. This time, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are looking strong after their think-tanks did an outstanding job in the auctions. They have firepower, youth mixed with experience and the correct team balance going into the tournament. Here is the preview of what they have in store ahead of the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League.

Strengths:

  • They have the strong top order in the seventh edition of IPL.

  • They can score down big totals with ease.

  • Dale Steyn has got some support which he lacked in the previous edition.

  • They have a good bench strength.

  • Sunrisers have a handful of decent All-Rounders.

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar can be dangerous with the new ball.

  • Most of their players are in good form.

  • Playing majority of their matches at home makes it easier for them.

Weakness:

  • Problem of plenty will be a worry for the team management when it comes to picking the playing XI.

  • Top Order failure will expose their weak middle order.

  • They do not bat deep and that could be a huge factor while chasing.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have the most destructive opening combination of the tournament with the assaulting Aussies Aaron Finch and David Warner siting pretty at the top of the order. Their skipper Shikhar Dhawan is also a dangerous opening batsman and picking any two of these three will be a big headache for the team management. Their middle order looks a decent one with some fringe domestic players making the cut. They have a bunch of capable All-Rounders to choose from which has the likes of Darren Sammy, Moises Henriques and Irfan Pathan. Then comes their strongest area i.e. their bowling. They have a plenty of options when it comes to picking their bowlers. They have a cluster of Pacers along with some fine spinners that brings the much needed stability to their team. Dale Steyn, Darren Sammy, Amit Mishra and David Warner holds the key for their fortunes in IPL.

Possible Playing XI:

Shikhar Dhawan, Aaron Finch, David Warner, Naman Ojha, Y Venugopal Rao, Darren Sammy, Karn Sharma/ Parveez Rasool, Irfan Pathan/Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma.
