Pakistan have announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming five-match One-Day International series against Australia, starting January 13 in Brisbane.
Yasir Shah and Sohail Khan, who were a part of the squad for the ODI series against the West Indies, have been dropped while fast bowler Mohammad Irfan, who missed the series in UAE due to injury, has made a comeback. Umar Akmal, whose last ODI appearance came in the 2015 World Cup, has also been recalled. Earlier, the right-handed batsman had made his comeback in the T20 team for the series against the West Indies.
As reported in The Dawn, Pakistan Cricket Board’s chief selector and former Pakistan skipper Inzamamul Haq said the team was selected after consulting head coach Mickey Arthur and ODI skipper Azhar Ali.
“The ODI team has been selected keeping the conditions in Australia in mind and the performances of players in the recent ODI series against West Indies and in domestic cricket,” said Inzamamul Haq.
“The team is a fine blend of experience and youth and the selectors have stuck to the same combination of players that played against West Indies earlier. We believe that team will do well in the tour,” he concluded.
