Suresh Raina watched the Asia Cup as outsiders, hopefully he would be realising his role of returning to form which could have played a crucial role in bringing Team India out of the position they has went into. And he will have a chance to do that in the World Twenty20 almost his final chance. Suresh Raina lost favour of his captain during the ODIs in New Zealand. But Selectors hoped on his experience for the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

As per the current circumstances he is very crucial player for Indian team. Recognised as India’s best batsman of T20 format, he is the only centurion in this format for India. He has proved himself in this format batting at no.3 or 4, pacing the innings properly and helping India to capitalize. His inclusion will surely help India and he can be called as “Trump Card”.

Some may call Raina’s inclusion in the World Twenty20 squad a lifeline for him, but looking at the way Team India’s performances, it won’t be wrong to call his inclusion a lifeline for India as well.

He has been taking tips from former India captain Sourav Ganguly over how to make a comeback and handling the short ball. “When you are down and out, that’s when you realise who is ready to help you, who is your friend and who can be a good guide.”

Raina also expressed his hungry for runs and confident going into the World T20, adding that he had recognized during the Asia Cup that the team needed him. “I saw the Asia Cup sitting at home from a third man’s perspective and realised that the team needs me. I have a role to play with this team. I just need to get back among runs, do well at this World T20 and maybe force my way back into the ODI side with the 2015 ICC World Cup in mind.”
