Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho has confirmed that former Reds star Luis Suarez still follows the club and he is happy about the progress Liverpool have been making under Jurgen Klopp this season.
The Reds are in terrific form this season as they have raked up 23 points from their first 10 Premier League games and have shown consistency since the start of season. They are now tied with title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table and have a genuine chance of challenging for the title for the first time since Luis Suarez left the club after 2013/14 season.
The Reds have failed to clinch their first Premier League title in Suarez’s last season as they ended as runners up before the Uruguayan moving to Catalan giants Barcelona in 2014. Brendan Rodgers has failed to replicate the similar success without Suarez and the club have failed to make decent challenge in the last two seasons.
However, Jurgen Klopp has got the signings he needed this summer and is building a team full of young players as he is making the Reds’ fans excited with their stellar performances over the last few months.
The team is functioning as a unit together and have been getting the results on a consistent basis as they are to be a side to beat this season with them particularly looking good in attacking.
‘He (Suarez) had the opportunity to come back to Liverpool to visit previously and meet my daughter, so we got together again this time and took some pictures. It was very nice,’ Coutinho said.
‘He is very happy. He has a very big passion for this football club and follows us from a distance. He is very happy with our journey so far and supports us from there.’
