Pandit, who took over the coach Mumbai before the start of 2015/16 season, had two good seasons with the side as in 2015/16, Mumbai went onto clinch their 41st title with an innings win over Saurashtra in the final. In 2016/17, Mumbai qualified for the finals but riding on an innings of 143 from skipper Parthiv Patel, Gujarat chased down a score 312 in the final to hand Mumbai a surprising defeat.
It was under Pandit’s tutelage that Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer made it to the Indian team. Still, the state association removed him from the post.
The changes made by the board attracted voices from outside world but in the end, the state board had its way. Sameer Dighe, former India wicketkeeper replaced Pandit in the job.

A veteran of 138 first-class games, who played 36 ODIs and 5 Tests for India, Pandit will join Karn Sharma as a new entrant in the side. Vidarbha has signed the all-rounder as a professional, who took over Piyush Chawla for the job.
Vidarbha was in need of a professional after Wasim Jaffer sat out for the season and Ambati Rayudu decided to move to his native state Hyderabad. Vidarbha Cricket Board inked upon the Railways bowler, who ended his 10 years association with the side.
At present, Vidarbha has likes of Faiz Fazal, Karn Sharma and Umesh Yadav on their side who have played for India. Out of these, Yadav is expected to skip whole season due to international commitments with the Indian team.
