For the first time since its inception as a PPV, Tables, Ladders & Chairs i.e. WWE TLC will be hosted in the month of October. The traditional gimmick-based event has always been organised in the month of December. Most of the time, it has also been the final event in the WWE PPV calendar.
This year, it will witness a preponed return as part of a Raw-exclusive PPV at the end of October. The speculations say that there are some uncertainties over the main event of this PPV. Brock Lesnar is expected to go on a hiatus following the No Mercy PPV.
He is scheduled to come up as the winner in the Universal Championship match at No Mercy. So, his break means that the prime title will also be absent from the flagship show. In general, a TLC match under no-disqualification rules is contested to determine the championship’s fate. But, this year, that will not be the case with the champion being absent.
Now, as per the latest updates from SportsKeeda, The Miz is supposed to get promoted to the main event spotlight in the absence of the prime champion. He is set to defend his Intercontinental Championship against a top name on the Raw roster in a TLC match at the PPV.
This will be a suitable post for the reigning IC champion who’s been a marquee name in the WWE for a long time now. He deserved to be in the main event spotlight for a long time now and might get it finally after a successful defence at No Mercy against Jason Jordan. If the match indeed takes place at WWE TLC, then it will be first-time in 25 years that an IC title match will be in the main event of a PPV.
However, the plans can change anytime considering the outcomes of No Mercy. As per the backup planning, The Miz might feature in a feud against Jeff Hardy for his title defence. On the other hand, there will be a multi-man matchup at the main event of TLC with the winner getting a shot at Brock Lesnar’s Universal title when he returns. His next title defence is expected to happen at Royal Rumble, next year.
