The pro-wrestling environment has never been so much volatile like now. WWE is still the biggest promotion among all of them. But they did not have so many threats from the existing rivals like now. The birth of All Elite Wrestling promotion is said to be bringing a huge change in the circuit. Wrestlers are considering this as a new promotion that they can rely on. With wrestlers like Cody Rhodes and Young Bucks being in charge, they might have been able to assure the performers.
With that being said, we want to give an update about Kenny Omega. He is reportedly the best wrestler of the world, right now. WWE and All Elite Wrestling are having a tug of war with him over the course of last few weeks since his contract with NJPW is coming to an end. So which company he would finally choose?
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has come up with a report about him. It suggested that he is no more interested to work in the WWE and rather willing to work with the All Elite Wrestling promotion. The internal word is that “the word was that he [Omega] had already turned down the WWE offer.”
It does make sense since Kenny Omega is much familiar with the All Elite Wrestling Superstars. Cody Rhodes, Young Bucks, and Chris Jericho have wrestled under the same banner of NJPW over the past couple of years. Plus, all of them have been a part of the Cruiser of Jericho show in the fall of 2018. So Kenny Omega should be interested to work in what could be more of a familiar zone for him.
Additionally, the speculations roaming around suggests that an alliance is on the horizon between All Elite Wrestling and NJPW. With the head honchos being common in both the franchises, it might be just a matter of time that the two parties sign a deal. This is a brilliant strategy to encounter WWE’s product through which they can deliver big-time events in the future.
Here’s more from sescoops.com,
“It’s also being speculated that AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling will indeed come to some sort of working relationship. Particularly with regards to Omega. With Chris Jericho having signed with AEW and his potential match with Hiroshi Tanahashi coming soon it would be in New Japan’s interest to work alongside AEW. This also calls into question how Kota Ibushi falls into the equation.”
WWE was hell-bent on getting Kenny Omega under their banner. This could have been a huge recruit from their prospects who could be star power in the mainstay league. But now the situation looks to be going out of their hands.
