Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have had a dismal start to this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They are yet to win a game and found themselves at the bottom of the table after six games. However, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg feels this will have no bearing on the performance of Virat Kohli in the upcoming ICC World Cup.
The men in blues are one of the hot favourites for the upcoming showpiece event in England and Wales. Virat Kohli & Co will begin their campaign against South Africa on June 5 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. They will look to bring the third trophy home when they start their campaign. In the form of the skipper, Kohli plays a significant role in the quadrennial tournament, and many have opined that Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s recent snubbing may take a toll on the talismanic scorer. But Brad Hogg feels it will have no bearing on Virat Kohli during the World Cup. Hogg added that Kohli knows his business and there is no need to worry about it.
“There is no way that it will affect Virat Kohli in the World Cup, he is a focused individual and he wants to succeed. Do not worry about Kohli going in the World Cup,” Hogg said in a video he has posted on Twitter.
Bangalore never had the right plans: Hogg
Furthermore, Brad Hogg didn’t seem too surprised with the outcome of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He said that the franchise is over-dependent on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers which has hurt them badly and their middle-order has looked completely out of place. Hogg also added that they didn’t have the right plans and the management needs to sit and chalk out a plan quickly if they want to change their fortunes.
“They rely too heavily on Kohli and AB de Villiers, their middle order has not stood up. Also their bowling department in the death overs. They have not executed their plans and they never had the right plans. So management has to sit down and turn things around very quickly,” the 48-year-old added.
