The South Africa-born English batsman Jason Roy is touted as the key member of the revised England team. The right-handed batsman has made his name in the cricket world since the very beginning of his career. The aggressive player has played just 74 innings and scored 2938 at an average of 40.81.

His breathtaking innings of 180 against Australia at the MCG overhauled Alex Hales 171 as the best ODI score by an England batsman. And his 221 run stand with Joe Root in the same match was the team’s highest ever total for the third wicket in one-day cricket.

The opening batsman for England in the ODI matches is set to charge into the first match of the big tournament on May 30 (Thursday). Roy is one of the few key players to be watched out for and likely to surpass Rohit’s world record.
