Windies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite has been reprimanded for showing dissent at the umpiring decision during their match against England in the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Due to that reason, he has got one demerit point.
On last Friday (14th June), the host side England faced Windies at Southampton in the match 19 of this tournament. While England sent Windies to bat first, Carlos Brathwaite came to bat at the no.8 position. The right-handed batsman scored 14 runs off 22 balls (only six) before losing his wicket.
On the 43.4 overs, Brathwaite went for a shot to English pacer Jofra Archer’s short-pitch delivery. However, it took an edge and went to the wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, who made no mistake to grab that opportunity. After the bowling end umpire Kumar Dharmasena raised his finger, Brathwaite showed his disappointment on that decision.

While Windies had no review at that time, the replay showed that Brathwaite’s bat had a thin contact with that ball. As it was the correct decision, Brathwaite breached the Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct. Due to that reason, he has earned one demerit point.
Match Referee David Boon proposed that sanction after that match. Later, Brathwaite admitted his offence and also accepted that sanction. It means that there is no need for a formal hearing.
England won that match comfortably
In that innings, Windies was bundled out for 212 runs in 44.4 overs. While Nicholas Pooran scored 63 runs, Shimron Hetmyer (39 runs) and the opener Chris Gayle (36 runs) were the only other batsmen to reach the 30-run mark.

In reply, England chased down that target comfortably in 33.1 overs after losing just two wickets. Coming to bat as an opener, Joe Root slammed a brilliant century as he remained not out on 100 runs off 94 balls.
Carlos Brathwaite has already shown his disappointment about the umpiring in this CWC

Earlier in this Cricket World Cup, Carlos Brathwaite openly expressed his frustration over the poor umpiring during their match against the defending champions Australia. While Windies lost that match by just 15 runs, they experienced some bad decisions which went against them, including Chris Gayle’s controversial no-ball dismissal.
After that match, Brathwaite revealed that he felt at least three wrong decisions went against them.
