Indian national cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri highly praised the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for maintaining his cool and calmness despite losing the recent Cricket World Cup trophy due to some bizarre rules.
On last Sunday (14th July), New Zealand faced the hosts England in the final of 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at Lord’s (London). New Zealand batted first and scored 241/8 in 50 overs. Chasing down that target, England also managed to score 241 runs in 50 overs.
Due to the tie result in that final match, it entered the Super Over stage. Once again, the Super Over had the tie result as England scored 15/0 while New Zealand replied with 15/1. Finally, England were declared as the winner of that final due to hitting more boundaries in that game. With that final match victory, England won the 2019 CWC trophy.
Since that result, many cricket fans and former cricketers have criticised that decider process. However, the Kiwi captain Kane Williamson hasn’t spoken about that bizarre rule which forced them to lose that Cricket World Cup trophy.

Observing Williamson’s remarkable calmness in this situation, Ravi Shastri lauded the Blackcaps’ captain.

Kane Williamson won the Player of the Tournament award in the 2019 CWC for his incredible batting and captaincy. The New Zealand captain scored 578 runs in nine innings of this tournament with an average of 82.57.
Williamson’s 578 runs are the most runs for a captain in a single CWC edition.
On the other hand, India played this tournament under Ravi Shastri’s coaching. Virat Kohli-led India finished their journey in the semi-final of this tournament. In the low-scoring rain-interrupted first semi-final, New Zealand beat India by 18 runs. However, earlier in the round-robin stage of this tournament, India finished on the table topper.
Ravi Shastri has recently received a 45-day extension in his coaching role for the national team. So, he will continue his post during India’s upcoming tour of West Indies and USA.
