On July 24, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the head coach of Team India along with support staff. Meanwhile, the aforementioned positions will be up for the grabs following the completion Windies tour. Meanwhile, the board had set the deadline of July 30 for the vacant posts. Also, the reports had suggested that the world’s most vibrant board had received over 2000 applications for the coaching staff.
Meanwhile, the list included renowned coaches who have had applied for the post. Recently, Tom Moody had filed the nomination. The Aussie coach had also applied in 2017 when Ravi Shastri succeeded Anil Kumble.
Shastri is captain’s choice?
Meanwhile, India’s head coach Shastri’s tenure will expire after Windies tour. Earlier, he along with Sanjay Bangar (batting coach), Bharat Arun (bowling coach) and R Sridhar (fielding coach) were given an extension for at least 45 days.
India will face the Caribbean team in three T20Is, as many T20Is and two Tests between August 3 and September 3.

However, it becomes pertinent that Shastri will have an automatic window to re-apply for the post alongside support staff.
Also, the support staff includes strength and conditioning coach apart from administrative manager and physiotherapist. Earlier, the fitness trainer Shankar Basu and physio Patrick Farhart had bid adieu to the India cricket team.
Rajput throws his hat in the ring:
Apart from Moody, reports suggest that Mahela Jayawardene, New Zealand’s former coach Mike Hesson had applied for the top-post. Recently, Lalchand Rajput, 57, had also filed his nomination for the chief coach post.
Also, Robin Singh had thrown his hat in the ring. Former bowler Venkatesh Prasad had also applied as a bowling coach with South African veteran Jonty Rhodes trying his luck as a fielding coach.

Besides, the reports are emerging that Shastri will be reappointed following his mutual understanding with Team India skipper Virat Kohli. Also, it becomes pertinent that Cricket Advisory Committee (CA) will pick India’s next head coach under the panel of the Committee of Administrators (CoA).
