On Monday (9th September), Bangladesh suffered a big home defeat against Afghanistan. After this result, Bangladesh became the first team to lose against ten different teams in Test cricket.

It was the only Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan at Chattogram. The 20-year-old Rashid Khan led the Afghanistan Test team for the first time. After winning the toss, Rashid Khan decided to bat first.

Rahmat Shah (102 runs), Asghar Afghan (92 runs), Rashid Khan (51 runs) etc. played crucial knocks in the first innings as the visitors scored 342 runs. Rahmat Shah became the first Afghanistan batsman to score a Test century.

In reply, Bangladesh were all out on 205 runs in their first innings. Only Mominul Haque (52 runs), Mosaddek Hossain (48*) and Liton Das (33 runs) reached the 20-run mark in that innings. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan shined with the ball as his bowling figures were 19.5-3-55-5.

Afghanistan started their second innings with the lead of 137 runs and managed to score 260 runs in that innings. Apart from the debutant Ibrahim Zadran (87 runs), Asghar Afghan (50 runs) and Afsar Zazai (48*) also scored good runs in that innings.

Chasing down the 398 runs target, Bangladesh were all-out on 173 runs. Only the captain Shakib Al Hasan (44 runs), Shadman Islam (41 runs) and Mushfiqur Rahim (23 runs) managed to cross the 20-run mark. Rashid Khan once again dominated with the ball as he had the bowling figures of 21.4-6-49-6.

The host side Bangladesh lost this match by 224 runs while Rashid Khan won the Player of the Match award.

Afghanistan became the 10th side to beat Bangladesh in Test cricket. With the latest defeat, Bangladesh became the first Test team to lose against ten different teams.

On the other hand, Afghanistan claimed their second Test victory while it was only their third Test. It is the joint fewest matches for any team to win the first two Tests. Australia was the other team who won their second Test during their third Test match.
