In fact, the previous edition of the Asia Cup was expected to take place in India. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board had refused to travel to India. Thus, the tournament was hosted by UAE.

As the current situation between the two neighbors is tense as usual, there are fewer chances of Indian team traveling to Pakistan next year.
India and Pakistan don’t play bilateral series due to political tensions.
“We need to see if India agrees to come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. There is still some time till next year’s September but by June, we have to know where we are going with this and if it can’t be hosted here because of a lack of involvement of India,” PCB CEO Wasim Khan said in an interview.
However, the final call on the venue will be taken by the Asian Cricket Council and International Cricket Council. Wasim Khan stated that they are ready to host India.

“But that is a decision for the Asian Cricket Council and ICC to make. We are ready to have India in the Asia Cup,” Khan said.
On the other hand, Wasim Khan added that Pakistan is open to playing against India in a bilateral series at a neutral venue. However, they can not continue to chase India. There is political tension between India and Pakistan and it has been a long time since the two rivals have taken on each other in a bilateral series.

“Board to board level, we share a good relation with India but they have a lot of government interference and we can’t keep on running after them to play a bilateral series. If they want to play they will have to tell us and give us a firm commitment. We have no issues playing at a neutral venue,” Khan said.
Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Karachi on 30th September.
