After a long time, Ajinkya Rahane has returned with his familiar pace and gained his same position in the team. In the ongoing Ranchi Test against South Africa, Rahane scored a century and built a strong partnership with Rohit Sharma.

On the first day, India lost three wickets in 39 runs and South Africa created a huge pressure. But Ajinkya with Rohit Sharma set the good partnership and didn’t give the chance to Proteas to take another wicket quickly. The day one ended with Rohit Sharma’s century (117*) and Ajinkya Rahane’s 83 not out.

Ajinkya Rahane was out after scoring 115 runs

The second day started with Rahane completing 100 which was his 11th Test century and the 4th Test century in India. He scored the last hundred in India in 2016 against New Zealand at Indore where he scored 188 runs. On the second day in Ranchi ground, the player was out after making 115 runs on the ball of George Linde who made him edge one to the wicketkeeper.

But the match saw sportsmanship in the field. Rahane walked off the field without even waiting for the umpire’s decision. After the ball touched the edge of Rahane’s bat, the ball went on the hand of the wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen. It was the faintest of the edges and umpire may have called for replay. But Rahane knew that he had edged the ball and walked off straightaway.
