The former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer has recently criticised the national selectors as he feels that they didn’t work properly. In reply, the chief selector MSK Prasad has hit back the former Indian wicketkeeper.

Recently, the 81-year-old Farokh Engineer has given an interview to the TOI. In that interview, he slammed the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) as well as the national selectors.

MSK Prasad is the chief of the selection committee of Indian men’s national cricket team. Meanwhile, Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe, Gagan Khoda and Devang Gandhi are the other members of this committee.

Farokh Engineer has called the national selection committee as a Mickey Mouse selection committee. Engineer has claimed that the Indian captain Virat Kohli plays the major role in the team selection and he has also supported this. But the former Indian wicketkeeper has raised the question on the qualification of the national selectors.

In that interview, Engineer also claimed that the selectors were busy to serve the tea to Anushka Sharma, the wife of Indian captain Virat Kohli, during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

MSK Prasad feels sad on these allegations which he claimed false and frivolous.

Prasad reacted, “I feel sad for someone deriving sadistic pleasure out of indulging in petty talk, thereby demeaning & disrespecting the selectors and wife of Indian captain through false and frivolous allegations.”

On the question of their qualification, the selection committee chief MSK Prasad has reminded how they got this role.

He added, “Let’s not forget that this selection committee has been appointed by BCCI through a proper process in an AGM.”

Someone at the age of 82 should reflect the maturity – MSK Prasad

Farokh Engineer played 46 Tests and five ODIs in his international career from 1961 to 1975.

MSK Prasad feels that Farokh Engineer should show enough maturity at his age. Prasad further added that Engineer should enjoy the present growth of the national team.

The chief selector added, “Someone at the age of 82 should reflect maturity and enjoy the progress of Indian cricket from his time to the current day.”

Anushka Sharma, the Bollywood star and the wife of the Indian captain Virat Kohli, has also recently opened up on this issue. She has quashed all the criticism through a written statement on his official Twitter account. Anushka has also written that she doesn’t allow anyone to drag her name into any conversation to sensationalise their opinion.
