Before the team selection, there was strong speculation that the limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma would be given rest from the upcoming home ODI series against Windies. However, he has been selected in both limited-overs squads for the forthcoming Windies series. According to the recent media reports, Rohit has wished to continue his cricket at present.
The present Indian team management and national selectors always give priority to workload management. Apart from the fast bowlers, team management also looks seriously on the other players’ workload management.
While it was the Cricket World Cup year, very expectedly, many regular limited-overs players have played long cricket matches, including the Test cricket. Indian captain Virat Kohli is one of them. After the long unstoppable cricket, Kohli recently took a small rest during the entire home T20I series against Bangladesh.

While Virat Kohli has already played 38 international matches in this year, Rohit Sharma has played 41 international matches in 2019. They also played the IPL 2019 in between this period where once again Rohit (15 matches) played more matches than Kohli (14 matches).

Rohit Sharma is currently in dream form
From the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Rohit Sharma is in a dream form with the bat. He finished as the most run-scorer in the CWC 2019 as the right-handed batsman scored 648 runs in nine innings with an average of 81.00. Rohit has continued his form after the CWC 2019 and impressed everyone with his great performances in the initial period of his Test opening batsman role.

According to the Bangalore Mirror report, Rohit Sharma has wished to continue his present dream form moment. Though he wasn’t present during the team selection meeting last Thursday (21st November), he reportedly gave that message earlier to the Indian captain Virat Kohli. After understanding the situation, the selectors have retained Rohit Sharma in both the T20I and ODI squads for the forthcoming home series against Windies.

In the ongoing Bangladesh tour of India, Rohit Sharma has mostly failed to maintain his flow. Apart from scoring a match-winning captain’s knock of 85 runs in a T20I match, Rohit has failed to showcase his proper class in the other international innings in the running Bangladesh tour of India. However, most people are not feeling any danger sign in this.

Windies will play the three-match T20I series and subsequently, three-match ODI series against the hosts India from 6th December to 22nd December 2019.
