The novel COVID-19 or coronavirus has hugely affected daily life in the world. While it has already cancelled or postponed many global events, including some cricket events, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 is now going to face a big blow.
Since the coronavirus has started to dominate globally, many sports events, including cricket events, have been postponed or cancelled globally. The coronavirus cases are rising globally along with the death reports as some countries are still failing to control the situation. Observing the present condition, some countries have already decided to go through the lockdown period to break the virus chain.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 will be the seventh edition of this tournament. Australia will host the T20 World Cup 2020 from 18th October to 15th November 2020. But while Australia is still battling against the coronavirus, the future of the T20 World Cup 2020 is under the dark cloud.
Moreover, Australia is thinking to seal the border at least for more six months which will affect the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup directly.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 possible postponement: The ideal choice has to be 2022
If the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 fails to happen in the scheduled time, there is the lesser possibility to organise this tournament in the immediate future due to already having a jam-packed schedule. Moreover, India will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. So, Australia is likely to host the postponed T20 World Cup in 2022.

A source claimed according to a TOI report, “The question being internally discussed was to postpone it but there was no status quo on ‘until when?’ Well, India is scheduled to tour Australia in December. Early next year, Australia have their Big Bash scheduled. March would not be an ideal time (with IPL to begin in April) because the broadcaster won’t agree to back-to-back T20 events.”
“India is anyway hosting the 2021 T20 World Cup. So, the ideal choice has to be 2022.”
If the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 is postponed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) can organise the postponed IPL 2020 during this period.
