The novel COVID-19 or coronavirus has stopped the daily busy life of the world. Like many other sports, cricket has also been affected amid the coronavirus pandemic. Many countries are still fighting against coronavirus and going through the lockdown period to break the chain of coronavirus. However, again, many countries are struggling to stop the increasing number of coronavirus cases, including the death reports.
Though the situation hasn’t been controlled yet, many still believe that cricket can begin in the later of this year, at least in empty stadiums. Even if the game begins in the second half of this year after the situation gets controlled, some significant incidents can happen which were initially not expected.
Here we are talking about three possible significant events that can happen even after cricket begins in late 2020
IPL 2020 cancellation; but multiple IPL All-Stars matches
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is working hard to find a proper window to organise the IPL 2020, but at present, the situation is not in their hands. The board can only think about organising the tournament if the coronavirus pandemic is adequately controlled.
Even, the situation gets controlled on time; the BCCI needs to look out on many factors before rescheduling the IPL 2020. The board requires to find out the stadiums, availability of the foreign players, availability of the number of days to complete this tournament etc. The IPL 2020 can be even cancelled if any of these factors can’t be controlled properly.
But even if the IPL 2020 gets unfortunately cancelled, the BCCI can organise multiple IPL All-Stars matches, which the BCCI dropped down due to improper planning and lack of support from the franchises. Though multiple IPL All-Stars matches can’t help to recover the huge losses due to the IPL 2020 cancellation, it definitely can open up the smooth path to organise the IPL 2021 successfully on time. Also, it can bring the proper match practice for many players as the cricketers are out of the game at the present moment.
