2020 Money In The Bank was a historic occasion where for the first time the two men and women’s division ladder matches took place at the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. Just like match itself, two of the respective winners of these matches also left the audience and critics in awe as the two most favorites didn’t secure the win, at all.
Otis won the men’s Money In The Bank ladder match whereas Asuka picked the victory in the women’s counterpart of the match. Otis will have to find out a perfect time to cash in the contract whereas Asuka’s briefcase already had the title inside as she’s been declared the new WWE Raw Women’s Champion. If the latest reports are any indications then these two matches weren’t supposed to go down, like that.

WWE’s original plan with Women’s Money In the Bank was very much different. Becky Lynch was supposed to wrestle at Money In The Bank pay-per-view itself while defending her title as per a promo delivered by her on Raw following WrestleMania 36. She would have retained the title against that opponent and then prepared herself for Ms. Money In The Bank 2020.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Shayna Baszler was planned to capture the 2020 Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase. This would have restarted the feud between The Queen Of Spades vs The Man.
“Baszler was originally booked to win MITB and be Lynch’s main rival for the title.”
The WrestleMania 36 showdown between Shayna Baszler and Becky Lynch did have a soft finish since it was already pitched within the WWE creative that the rivalry will continue through Money In The Bank pay-per-view in May. But plans did change after the pregnancy news of Becky was revealed to the creative team.
The changed plans witnessed Asuka as the new RAW Women’s Champion since WWE had to choose someone as the successor of Becky after Money In The Bank. Shayna Baszler may be dominant but she is far from over with the audience and didn’t yet reach the level of becoming a champion. She cut a scathing promo on Becky Lynch for getting pregnant to insinuate the WWE Universe who is pretty mad at her as she said “that kid’s gonna suck.”
