Keith Lee is the new WWE NXT Champion and the NXT North American Champion following the historic Great American Bash return on the WWE Network.
A “Winner Takes All” main event featured on last night’s NXT Great American Bash Night 2 episode where Adam Cole faced Keith Lee. Cole headed into the match as the NXT Champion whereas Lee was the North American Champions, prior to the bout. Lee then ended up defeating Cole in the match to become a dual champion, the first-ever for the brand.

This is the first reign for Keith Lee with the NXT Title. Cole captured the belt back on June 1, 2019, at the “Takeover: XXV” event by defeating Johnny Gargano, and the held it for a record 403 days. One the other hand, Lee has been North American Champion since defeating Roderick Strong on January 22, 2020, during an NXT TV episode before Royal Rumble PPV.
No shenanigans were noted during the Great American Bash main event as there was no interference. But we did see Karrion Kross and Scarlett watching the new champion’s post-match celebration from a room up high above the building. NXT then ended with Keith Lee celebrating after an annoyed Kross stared him down from there.

Following the match, Keith Lee recalled comments made by WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry and dedicated the win to the veteran superstar him. He also remembered his trainer, “Killer” Tim Brooks, who passed away on June 30 while stating the following,
“I go out and say that to them once, and now here I stand with one I took from them, and the latest addition. History, McKenzie. I’m feeling like a historian, I’m feeling historical. How else do you describe this, except for magic?
I believe Mark Henry said to me that I would bring back… forgive me if I misquote him, but I’m fairly certain I was paying attention when he said I would bring back ‘big man magic.’ Mr. Henry, this one’s for you, too. But more importantly, McKenzie, my coach who just passed away, just last week, once told me I would be the top, I would be one of the best this industry has ever seen. Today, he’s a prophet, and for me it doesn’t get sweeter than that.”
WWE NXT boss Triple H congratulated the first-ever Superstar to hold the NXT Title and the NXT North American Title at the same time, via his Twitter account as the champion continued to bask in the glory.
