As per the latest reports, Rey Mysterio has been working in the WWE without an active contract for quite sometimes. According to F4Wonline.com, a unique situation has occurred because he is still in a huge program on RAW with Seth Rollins. His son Dominik is also part of the angle that is one big reason why the veteran superstar is still willing to stick around to WWE.

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Rey Mysterio had recently asked Vince McMahon for a money raise on his future deal. McMahon responded saying that it’s a bad time to hike payment. He also pointed out how WWE has already fired numerous people in the wake of COVID-19 around April. Apparently this created a rift between the two parties.

WWE and Rey Mysterio have reportedly still been working out to reach a deal for a while so that the former world champion doesn’t have to walk away from the company. But it was noted that at this point, Rey could technically attend any wrestling show he wants. WWE could also take no legal steps against him.

Meltzer has also explained that this contract situation with Rey Mysterio isn’t a new issue in WWE. But it is just coming out, now as the veteran star has apparently been working without a contract for months. It was also noted that the eye program with Seth Rollins was intentionally done to write him off Monday Night Raw under this contract dispute state.

They thought of getting out of this situation which still prevails,

“They worked under the basically ‘okay I’ll work out this eye program,’ you know the original eye program when they took his eye out originally, I remember saying that if they don’t reach a deal that’l him being written off, but since they brought him back that’s when the whole thing that ‘my eye may be done.’ I guess it was completely forgotten and I guess they thought he would sign, and then he didn’t sign.” (Courtesy ringsidenews.com)

Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik still progressed with the storyline with Seth Rollins and his stable on RAW. It will now produce an “Eye for an Eye Match” at Extreme Rules PPV.

Who knows if that match could mark the end to his WWE career. A kayfabe eye injury at the hands of Rollins would be a way to permanently write him off TV if the two parties don’t come to an agreement.
