As the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially postponed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 on last Monday (20th July), the IPL Governing Council is now getting ready for effective discussion to organise the IPL 2020. All the decisions regarding the IPL 2020 can be taken in the next 10 days.
According to the recent media reports, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can organise the IPL 2020 between 26th September and 8th November 2020. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has got enough window to organise the full-fledged IPL after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 has been postponed, which was scheduled to run between 18th October and 15th November 2020 in Australia.

IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel has recently clarified that the Governing Council will meet in next seven to 10 days to sort out all the planning of the IPL 2020. He also commented that the 13th edition of the IPL could be played in the UAE.

Patel told PTI, “The IPL GC will meet within a week or 10 days and all decisions (including final schedule) will be taken there. As of now, the plan is to have a full-fledged IPL comprising 60 games and most likely in the UAE.”
While the coronavirus pandemic is still on, Patel was asked about the major challenges to organise the cash-rich tournament.
He answered, “Just the operational side of it. Whether you do it here or outside, it doesn’t matter (with no crowds).”
Our players will need at least three to four weeks of training, if not more: One team owner about the possibility of IPL 2020
The franchises have also reportedly started to set up their plan to prepare for the IPL 2020. Apart from the Indian players, they are also focusing on foreigners’ availability for this tournament.

One franchise owner has claimed that they want at least three to four weeks of training before beginning the IPL 2020.
The owner told PTI, “Our players will need at least three to four weeks of training, if not more. We will finalise all our plans once the BCCI announces the dates. It looks like the IPL will be in the UAE and we are ready for that.”
The IPL 2020 was initially scheduled between 29th March and 24th May 2020, and India was getting ready to host that tournament. However, in middle of the March, the coronavirus pandemic forced to postpone that tournament for the indefinite period.
