The first match for WWE Fastlane 2021 PPV has now been officially announced. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler will be defending the titles against Bianca Belair and Smackdown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in which appeared to be a big rematch.
At last month’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Jax and Baszler successfully defended their tag team titles against Banks and Belair. Sasha almost had the win via her Bank Statement submission locked in, on Jax. But Carmella’s sommelier Reginald came up with the distraction which allower Jax to counter with a Leg Drop and pin Sasha to retain the belts.
So it appears that Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair will be getting yet another opportunity to capture the belts at WWE Fastlane 2021. It should be noted that she will also be defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 37. Belair is getting this title shot by virtue of her 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble Match win on January 31st.

WWE Fastlane 2021 will take place on March 21 from Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, Florida. This Women’s Tag Team Titles match is the first one to be announced for the match card. The company only has a few weeks until the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania 37 airs on the WWE Network. Meanwhile, this rematch caught the fans with a big surprise.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Lana and Naomi were next in line for a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles as the two teams are feuding on Raw. The veteran wrestling journalist hinted that the match could take place at WWE Fastlane 2021 as Lana and Naomi have also earned an opportunity in a Triple Threat number one contender’s match,
“Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler are going to be wrestling for the titles against Lana and Naomi for god only knows when, maybe in the pay-per-view, maybe in RAW in a few weeks.”
Before Fastlane 2021, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax have successfully defended their titles against Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez during NXT this week. Kai and Gonzalez won the first-ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to get the opportunity. Baszler tapped out Kai with the Kirifuda Clutch submission maneuver although she wasn’t the legal woman to produce a controversial outcome for the match.
