In a strange set of incidents from the professional wrestling circuit, an earthquake has stopped a match underway inside the squared circle. Over the years, this sport has seen weird instances where someone inserted a tampon into an opponent’s mouth from her underwear or someone even passed away in between a match. This one appears to be pretty new.
Japan is infamous for earthquakes. It is an island on the eastern side which often gets rocked with such calamities and the country has to keep precautions. However, it was something unexpected that a wrestling event had to be stopped. This happened at a unique time while an NJPW event was in progress and it had to be halted for obvious reasons.

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Japan, yesterday night and the event hosted by New Japan Pro Wrestling had to be stopped in between. To be precise, The NJPW Cup was going on and a 6-man tag team match was happening between the teams of Kazuchika Okada / Hiroshi Tanahashi / Kota Ibushi and KENTA / Yukiro Takahashi / Jay White.

The earthquake stopped a tag team match for NJPW
As seen in the video, the earthquake kept on shaking the building with the overboard lights constantly shaking. Even the cameras were shaking badly as the wrestlers opted to leave the ring. After some time, the event was resumed as thankfully, no one was injured. But it must have been tough for the performers to stop performing knowing that nature unleashed its wrath upon them.
While the match was stopped for a moment, you can hear the commentary team talking about the earthquake. The cameras also clearly captured the entire entire building shaking and the netizens reacted to this unfortunate incident. It’s good to hear no such harm was noted during the incident. But still, it was an overall scary experience that no one would want to be a part of.
New Japan Pro Wrestling is one of the oldest promotions in the world of professional wrestling. The likes of top Superstars, Brock Lesnar or Chris Jericho from WWE have performed here in the past. Even two of the above-mentioned wrestlers from the match during the earthquake were also part of WWE. KENTA used to wrestle for 205 Live by the name of Hideo Itami while Jay White was also a WWE star by the name of Trent Barretta.
