It was earlier mentioned in reports that WWE could be planning the first-ever Queen of the Ring tournament, similar to the King of the Ring tradition. It appears that the tourney dedicated to the female roster of the WWE is being sketched at this point, so that it could be launched on TV, down the road.

As per the exclusive reports provided by Wrestling INC, Queen of the Ring tournament will be happening, later this year. The tentative plan is for the event to be a main roster show airing on Peacock. No time frame for the event was let known by the source and there’s no update either on whether NXT women superstars could be a part of the inaugural tradition.

WWE Reportedly Planning Queen Of The Ring Tournament In 2021 1

If Queen of the Ring ends up becoming a reality then it would be another special event only for the female superstars of the WWE. The company last held an all-women’s show, which is the first-ever Evolution pay-per-view in October of 2018. That event was headlined by then-RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey who defeated Nikki Bella to retain that title.

For a long time, the second edition of Evolution was rumored but WWE never brought it back to their schedule. Perhaps this upcoming Queen of the Ring tournament will be a consolation prize of that undone PPV for the WWE female talents.

Triple H didn’t comment about Queen of the Ring

During a media call in June, Triple H was asked about the possibility of WWE holding another all-women’s event as NWA announced an all-women’s EmPower show, later this year. The NXT head-honcho didn’t sound positive about an Evolution 2.0,

“Haven’t we already done them? If I told you that I was making an all-men’s program and I didn’t want women on it, it would be criticized. And I’m not saying that’s right or wrong. I do think it’s funny when people go, ‘I want the best in the world regardless of contractual status.’ What, I’m sorry… but from a business person’s standpoint, then why do we have contractual status? Right? It doesn’t make any sense to me.”

Scrapping out Evolution created a negative backlash among the WWE fans and so did these comments from Triple H. But the company is eventually planning Queen of the Ring to replace the PPV which is good to know. We are likely to receive more updates on this tournament as time progresses.
