This is the reason why he was away from TV since WrestleMania 37 after losing in a big match to Randy Orton. He made an appearance on RAW the next night for a Firefly Funhouse segment, indicating that he will have a fresh start over his next appearance but that never happened.

WWE Senior Executive of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis was the one who informed Bray Wyatt of his WWE release as he was told that the release happened due to COVID-19 related budget cuts. Prior to this, Wyatt was preparing for an in-ring return and was in great shape. He was also even being advertised for some WWE shows in August although no confirmed update was available on what the company has planned for his comeback.
