News broke out a few hours before this past Friday’s SmackDown (that took place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida) that Adam Cole was taken directly to Vince McMahon’s office for a meeting. A talk between the two parties was expected which was also considered “high priority” to McMahon himself, according to the reports of Fightful.
Higher-ups were reportedly informed that the meeting went well, and McMahon seemed to have taken a liking to Adam Cole on a personal level. This eventually might confirm the latter’s stay with the company amid all of these ongoing releases. There is also a rumor regarding the former NXT Champion who could soon leave the brand.

As noted exclusively by Wrestling Inc last Monday that Adam Cole’s WWE contract expired in early July after the NXT Great American Bash event in July. But he proceeded to sign an extension with the WWE and now that the existing deal will expire after SummerSlam Weekend, later this month. So WWE Chairman must have wanted to have a talk with the top main roster prospect to have him around.

Adam Cole could be headed to AEW
It was also noted that Adam Cole was not around during SmackDown unlike recent NXT performers in dark segments. WWE did want to bring him in the previous episode that took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but they switched it to this week due to logistical reasons.
Creative pitches have also been made for the former NXT Champion on both Raw and SmackDown over the last week if he decided to re-sign with the WWE. The WWE CEO should be the one to inform Adam Cole that he is wanted on the main roster. As of now, he is set to have a face-to-face with Kyle O’Reilly (with NXT General Manager William Regal acting as the moderator). The two rivals are expected to be wrestling each other at TakeOver 36 on August 22.

There’s a chance that Adam Cole could join AEW since his girlfriend Britt Baker is the reigning Women’s Champion of the rival brand. During a conversation with Matty Paddock of the UK Daily Star, she commented about her partner possibly joining AEW,
“He has such a history in AEW that, if he came here, the storylines are endless – but he’s happy where he is. So, if he were to jump ship and come my way, that would be awesome, but if he stays in WWE forever then I’d be happy, too, as I just want him to be happy.”
