The stakes for WWE Summerslam 2021 main event have just been raised by the Universal Champion Roman Reigns on this week’s Smackdown. He appeared in a main event segment with challenger John Cena to mention that he will leave the company if he fails to retain the title against tomorrow night’s PPV event.
As noted, SmackDown on FOX from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona was closed with Cena and Reigns facing off one last time before their main event at SummerSlam 2021 pay-per-view.

Just like last week’s back and forth verbal jabs on the mic, John Cena said that his goal is to win the Universal Title from Roman Reigns and take it away from WWE while he goes to film movies, and not bring it back until WrestleMania 38 in 2022.
The Tribal Chief then said that he can do the Hollywood stuff that Cena does, and hence he will raise the stakes for their mega showdown. Reigns declared that he’s either leaving Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as the WWE Universal Champion, or he’s leaving WWE.

WWE is yet to confirm the new stipulation stated by Roman Reigns
It’s interesting to note that while Roman Reigns himself changed the stipulation of their match, no official announcement affirming that change was reflected on WWE’s part, as of this writing. The official website has the following excerpts written for the description of the match regarding the war of words between the two WWE titans,
“Amidst the war of words, an irate Head of the Table suddenly made a stunning claim that he would leave WWE if he doesn’t leave SummerSlam as the Universal Champion. When Roman Reigns extended his hand, Cena shook it. With this, Reigns picked up The Cenation Leader for an attack, but Cena turned the tables and delivered a mock pin on Reigns to send a strong message to the titleholder heading into SummerSlam. Although Reigns’ has definitely raised the stakes of the iconic matchup, the WWE Universe is now left wondering whether Reigns will live up to his word if he loses to Cena on Saturday night.”

The segment on Smackdown between John Cena and Roman Reigns ended with the latter trying to deliver an Attitude Adjustment. Cena countered that move and rolled Reigns up for a quick pin attempt, to taunt him and show that it’d be easy to get the “1-2-3” count. Cena then made the “you can’t see me gesture” to end the show.
