Jim Ross On Vince McMahon Replacing Him With Michael Cole

His commentary always made matches even more lively. He was the lead commentator of Monday night RAW even after the brand extension. Michael Cole became the lead commentator of Smackdown after the brand extension.

Cole was doing a good job but he could never reach the level of Ross. His commentary has always been repetitive and he could never sell a return or debut better than Ross. He is in playing the job of a commentator for over twenty years, still he could not improve very much.

Right now Michael Cole is the lead commentator of WWE and Ross had been let go. He is currently working in the biggest Rivals of WWE right now, the AEW. On the other hand, WWE has given the job of commentary to some other commentators such as Pat McAfee and Corey Graves who are doing a fantastic job, especially, Pat McAfee. But it will always remain the fact that they could never surpass the greatness of the good old Jim Ross.

Jim Ross who is currently working as the live match commentator in the AEW recently spoke on his Grilling JR podcast where he reflected on Vince McMahon and replacing him with Michael Cole as the lead commentator of WWE. He said;

“I think it was Vince. He wanted younger. He didn’t want Southern. He didn’t want chubby cheeks. He wanted a change. He also underestimated my popularity. With that said, it sounds very egocentric to say something like that, but I think that was all proven over time.

“In any event, I don’t think Cole had anything to do with it or any conspiracy theories or any underhanded bullsh*t. That’s just not him. I don’t know how much he could have influenced it anyway to be honest with you in all fairness to everybody involved. It was one guy’s decision.”
