Adopting a heel character benefitted Roman Reigns to a big extent. His dull babyface run has been a well-documented thing that didn’t work out despite the WWE officials being too invested in that run. But the villainous run proved to be a huge success as he became the biggest merch-mover as a heel in the company.
That being said, Roman Reigns has become the longest-reigning champion in the modern era of the WWE. He has been the Universal Champion since defeating Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt in a Triple Threat match all the way back at Payback 2020. The 500+ day title reign is going strong and it won’t end until at least Wrestlemania 38.

Brock Lesnar’s 503-day title reign with the same title has been broken by the Tribal Chief who hasn’t pinned or submitted for over 700 days. The last time, he was pinned was back in December 2019 at the hands of Baron Corbin. Roman Reigns is also approaching another huge accolade at the coming Elimination Chamber PPV event.

Roman Reigns set to battle Goldberg at Elimination Chamber
A successful title defense against WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg would mean that The Head of the Table has competed against every single former Universal Champion since the title was created in 2016 in one single reign. He also successfully defended the title against Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins during his reign.
Another interesting stat was pointed out by Louis Dangoor who tweeted out ahead of next Saturday’s Elimination Chamber premium live event. The fact about Roman Reigns states that he already defeated all the former Universal Titleholders except Goldberg during his current reign as champion. At the Chamber PPV event, he can also add Goldberg to the list with a victory.

“If he beats Goldberg next week, Roman Reigns will have beaten every person to hold the Universal title during his current reign.
Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Goldberg,” Dangoor tweeted.

Bray Wyatt did not like the fact as he commented, “Take my name off that sh*t.” Technically, Roman Reigns never defeated him since he earned the win over The Fiend. Seth Rollins also commented on the tweet as Reigns also got a DQ finish over Rollins at Royal Rumble 2022.
