WWE will make history at Elimination Chamber 2022 as for the first time ever, they will be hosting three separate matches featuring the women superstars in the soil of Saudi Arabia. Billboard featuring the Raw Women’s Title match participants has also been revealed that’s been touted for the time being as head into the premium live event. But controversy is also brewing amid these bright things.
Sonya Deville is on her way to Saudi Arabia, where she will participate in Elimination Chamber 2022 by teaming with Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair against Naomi and Ronda Rousey.
Wrestlemania 38: WWE Has Huge Plans For The Biggest Event Of 2022
Sonya is a proud lesbian superstar who recently made a splash at a GLAAD event hosted in Los Angeles in conjunction with the Super Bowl LVI week. She has been an activist for LGBT+ communities who also went campaigning for awareness in the past. Plus, WWE also went into detail about her personal life during her stint at the Total Divas reality TV series.
But Saudi Arabia, homosexuality is punishable by death. According to the US Department of State, consensual same-sex sexual conduct could be met with the death penalty or flogging. The matter would be considered by the government before taking any kind of action. Hence, Sonya’s inclusion in Elimination Chamber 2022 card wasn’t greeted well.

Elimination Chamber 2022 could end up receiving a backlash
Dave Meltzer discussed this Elimination Chamber 2022 situation on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. As per his view, it’s a very tough situation for the former Fire n Square member,
“Sonya Deville’s going to Saudi Arabia. She goes from the GLAAD meeting to go to a country where, you know, such a thing, being gay, is not only illegal, but you can be killed for it. I mean, I’m not exaggerating. You can. Believe me, I’m not blaming her, it’s her job.
WWE is trying to talk about how they’re changing the world and everything, because they’re going to have women’s matches. That’s a big, big thing. They had everyone tweet about it and everything like that. They had their little catch phrase that they told everyone to tweet.”
WWE is playing a major role in Saudi Arabia’s sports rejuvenation and hopefully, they will continue with the revolution with Elimination Chamber 2022. Apart from the tag team match, a separate Women’s Chamber match will be there on the card while Becky Lynch will also defend her Raw Women’s Title against WWE Hall of Famer Lita.
